This training will benefit students interested in ECE,  Nursing, Criminal Justice, Health Education,  & anyone who is a mandated reporter.

Topics Include:

California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Laws

How the Child Welfare System Engages Families

The Impact of  Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Use on a Child’s Development

Risk and Protective Factors for Child Abuse & Neglect

 

The Academy is free and participants receive a Certificate of Participation

                                           Working with “Together We Will”- Parent Leadership Academy                                             to  Strengthen Family Support Organizations

 

Please join us to explore how local prevention programs and family support services can team up with Parent Leaders to expand your organization’s capacity to work with children and families to achieve successful outcomes.  February is National Parent Leadership month and we  will highlight graduates of Together We Will”- Parent Leadership Academy and showcase how they engage with Family Resource Centers  and actively participate in promoting healthy families and safe communities. 

In addition, local Americorps Members and Supervisors will talk about their experiences and learn from the audience how Americorps can assist community agencies to enhance their programs, develop neighborhood resources and grow family-focused services.

 The Impact of 2nd Hand Smoke on Young Children

 Please join us to learn about the dangers of second and third hand smoke and how exposure impacts health and the environment.

Topics will include what is third and second hand smoke, who is effected and what is being done to help protect vulnerable populations. There is a focus on young children as are especially vulnerable to second and third hand smoke exposure and what steps can be done to protect them
