San Luis Obispo County is dedicated to ensuring that every youth in the foster care system will have a committed relationship to at least one adult including a steady education, solid community ties and a consistent group of people they know as their friends and family.
Representatives of the Independent Living Program will discuss how Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo County Department of Social Services and the California Permanency for Youth Project advocate for and work together to establish life-long connections for the 200+ foster children/youth in San Luis Obispo Couny. They will also discuss how these groups promote the California Foster Care Non-Discrimination Act. (AB 458).
Creating permanency is an active and continuous process and is most successful when professionals and family members work together as a team. Please join us to learn how to be supportive of our local foster youth and the Independent Living Program.
